Saturday - My brother-in-law, who helped a lot with my floor installation, just happens to be installing floors at his house. I decided to run (~20 miles) to his house so I could help. Great idea, right? Shockingly, it turned out to be a fairly rough day for me. I lagged around the house a little too long in the morning and didn't start my run until after 10:30 am. The first half of my run was enjoyable enough. I ran into a couple of friends, who were cycling along the way, and decided to join me for a few miles. Roughly 9 miles in, I came across a State Park worker who was issuing a survey about trail usage and giving out Cliff Bars in return. yum.
Lucky for me, my late start time put me in the toughest part of my route (a section of the Pioneer Express/Western States trail locally referred to as "The Meat Grinder"), during the hottest part of the day. Temps were in the 90's and the heat took a bit of a toll on me. So, like any good ultra runner, I stumbled along, stuck a picture of the trail on facebook, and kept on going. A few times, I debated hiking down to the lake to get in the water, but didn't want to spend the extra energy and opted instead, to daydream about being in the water.
I did my best zombie impersonation as I climbed exited the trail and made the steep climb up the road to Vincent's house. Vincent's neighbors, who are friendly enough and are also my in-laws, have a pool. I soaked in the cool water, ate a bunch of fruits, drank a bunch of juice, ate some grains, ate some salad, drank some gazpacho, and eventually got to helping with the floor install. I felt about as useful as a bag of sand, but Vincent insisted I was extremely helpful.

Sunday - rest day. Helped my bro-in-law install flooring at his house, drove there this time (felt a lot better).
